Honey is a natural and precious product that bees make from the nectar of flowers. Our bees forage on wild and cultivated flowers in the Sarthe region, mainly between June and August, to collect the nectar that will be used to make honey. This nectar is then transformed by the bees into a sweet and flavorful product through a complex process.

When a bee collects nectar from a flower, it absorbs it and stores it in a special organ called the "honey sac." It returns to the hive, where it regurgitates this nectar to pass it to another bee. This process of regurgitation and partial digestion removes some of the moisture from the nectar, transforming it into honey. Once stored in the cells of the hive, the honey is left to mature, concentrating its natural sugar. The bees then seal the cells with wax to preserve this precious nectar.

Sarthe Flower Honey is for anyone looking to consume natural and authentic honey. Whether you are a honey lover, a fan of local products, or someone seeking health benefits, this honey will satisfy your needs. It is particularly recommended for those looking to boost their vitality, soothe their throat, or add a sweet and natural touch to their daily diet.

Flowers foraged by our bees in Sarthe
Our bees forage on a wide variety of flowers typical of the Sarthe region. In June and July, the local flora offers a multitude of nectar, allowing us to produce a rich and complex honey. Among the main foraged flowers are:

•      Clover: a sweet and fragrant flower that brings sweetness and delicacy to the honey.

•      Linden: known for its soothing properties, it gives a slightly minty and fragrant honey.

•      Sunflower: bringing a delicate floral touch, it adds a subtle and slightly fragrant note to the honey.

•      Phacelia: contributing to a lighter texture, it offers a unique floral sweetness.

•      Thistle: less common but highly appreciated for its lightness, it is the source of a very fine honey.

The blend of these flowers, harvested in a natural and preserved environment, gives our Flower Honey soft, balanced, and slightly fruity aromas.

How to choose your honey and what are the different flavors and colors?
The choice of honey depends on several factors, including color, taste, and texture. Each type of honey has a unique color and flavor, determined by the flowers foraged by the bees. Sarthe Flower Honey is a light honey, golden to pale amber in color. It offers a sweet and floral flavor, with a sweet but not too pronounced touch. This honey is versatile, perfect for use in drinks, cooking recipes, or consumed directly.

•      Color: Sarthe Flower Honey has a clear golden hue, sometimes slightly amber, depending on the flowers foraged.

•      Taste: The taste is sweet and light, with subtle floral notes that vary depending on the flowers collected. This honey is highly appreciated for its natural sweetness and balanced taste.

•      Texture: It is slightly creamy, but remains fluid, perfect for spreading on toast or sweetening your drinks.
